PARIS, TEXAS & TRUCK STOP ANGEL
In 1984, German director, Win Wenders, won a Cannes Film Festival Award for Paris, Texas. The film was co-written by the laconic, Pulitzer prize winning playwright, Sam Shepard, and starred Nastassja Kinski, Harry Dean Stanton, and Dean Stockwell.

As I have a knack for finding beauty in strange places, I recently re-stumbled across this film and used it as inspiration for this piece. I have tried to capture the subtle elements from this film about estrangement and reconciliation -- the barren Texas desert, the pivotal motel stops, and the character, "Jane," whom I have symbolically adorned with angel wings.
Sketch for this piece. If you haven't seen the movie, try to find a copy. It's really a beautiful film.
