Revolt Against the Modern World...

"The Premonition" - Acrylic on Linen - Higgins 32 x 36

Sometimes I find the title before the painting finds its shape…

"The Premonition" - The Outer Limits - 1965

Then it needs to find its colours…

Cerulean, Winsor, Cobalt, Ultramarine, Phthalo and Indanthrone, Prussian -  Picasso Blue Period.

"La Celestina" - Pablo Picasso - 1903

"Femme aux Bras Croises" - Pablo Picasso - 1902

"The Purpose of life is washing the dust of daily life off our souls" - Picasso

Then it has to find its ears before it learns to move…

Thanks Kelley for the Waltz inspiration!

While my hands & brushes choose their rhythm…

"Absinthe Drinker" - Pablo Picasso - 1901

"Man With a Blue Scarf" - Lucian Freud - 2004

And after finding words and titles and sounds and shapes and thoughts and colours… it finds its soul…

"Bad Education" - Pedro Almodovar - 2004

"A moment of complete happiness never occurs in the creation of a work of art. The promise of it is felt in the act of creation but disappears towards the completion of the work. For it is then the painter realises that it is only a picture he is painting. Until then he had almost dared to hope the picture might spring to life." - Lucian Freud
